night on the town

Wren hit up the Riverview wine bar last night, and thoroughly enjoyed herself. She was alert the entire evening, listening to conversation, but not saying much. She seemed to really like the live music being played by the patio band. She also took a couple walks down the sidewalk, one with her buddy Hans, and loved looking at the lights of the Riverview Theater.

good day, sunshine!

Wren spent this morning outside, enjoying the sunshine and birds singing. She also practiced some "tummy time", which seems to be getting better for her. She likes looking at the grass and trying to touch it.

goodbye to tress and chris

Tresse and Chris left for Michingan last night. We went over to say goodbye to them. Wren will be months older and so different the next time she gets to see her auntie tress. We miss them so much when they arent here. Tresse's friends Katie and Sondra were saying goodbye too, and meeting Wren for the first time.

Baptism

On Sunday,May 18th, Wren Elizabeth was baptized at Arlington Hills Presbyterian Church, by our favorite pastor, Rev. David Tucker. Wren had tons of support from family and friends who came out to witness her baptism and give their love. One of our best friends, Erin Kate, performed some amazing songs in honor of Wren(with some help from her dad, Roger). Uncle Tim also sang. And so did our friends in the African Choir, blessing Wren, and the rest of us, with their music. It was a beautiful day, with lots of yummy food, drink, and socializing after the service. We are so lucky Wren has so many amazing people in her life, excited to watch her grow...

four weeks

Auntie Tresse and Uncle Buick

Tresse and her fiance, Chris, were home from Michigan this week to meet Wren and witness her baptism. It was her first time meeting aunt Tresse, and Wren was so excited!

Big girl bath.

Auntie Sal and Uncle Tommy

Wren was waiting and waiting for Aunt Sally to come back from Thailand! We're glad that she made it home safely (she was there when the cyclone hit but fortunately only endured strong winds where she was) and also glad that she brought us dinner, gifts, and her husband Tommy. Tom was very skilled with the baby, I think he may have a future as Wren's "manny" - and by that I mean male nanny, not the orca cat. (Pics are kind of blurry, I'm still learning how to use my cam!)

Looking cute...

Photo shoot gone horribly wrong.

Thought we'd share some pics we tried to take of Wren last weekend. She looked so cute in her little dress that we thought we should take some photos in the front yard. Apparently it wasn't meant to be.

First, she had a hard time sitting up in the grass:

Then, she fell asleep.:

So then we decided to lay her in the grass, which, as you can see looked ridiculous:

So we tried to sit her back up, but she just fell over:

And then she puked on herself. So we stopped.

Last weekend

Sorry, haven't been on the blog lately. Wren has been keeping us on our toes! Here's what's been going on...
Great Aunt Jody and Uncle Jeff stopped by for a visit last Friday afternoon:

And Mother's Day was an all-day blast! It started with Ara's first Mother's Day breakfast at home (I made her favorite Swedish breakfast of crepes, unfortunately they tasted more like charred flour). We went to church after breakfast - the high school boys sitting in the pew behind us were flirting with Wren so we had to take a picture - then we had brunch and dinner at the grandparents. It was a great day!

Don't eat the baby!

For comparison's sake we put the babe next to Manni on the couch. Manni's still the largest.

It's hard out there for a pimp.

One second she's looking all cozy and cute in her hooded sweatshirt and the next second she's flashing gang signs. I think we're in trouble.

Finally. Seriously.

Wren's little dried-up-bloody-umbilical-cord-stump-thingy finally came off today. Ara says "NO" to saving it in the baby book. Think I might auction it off on Ebay...any takers??

a lunch date...

Today Wren had a lunch date with Gramma Shell! She also visited her office and sat pretty (well slept pretty) as co-workers oooh-ed and ahhh-ed. She slept through lunch too. And the ride there and back. I think that bath this morning must've wore her out!

hose 'er off.

Wren had her first blowout diaper this morning! Poop everywhere. So today's sponge bath was critical. Not quite her favorite thing to do, but if you stick your pinky in her mouth she usually calms down...
