When Wren Met Santa...

Wren sat on Santa's lap last Sunday. Didn't quite go as well as we'd hoped. We waited in line for an hour, then Wren decided to puke on herself right before the picture, then she refused to put her tongue back in her mouth for the first few shots on Santa’s lap, only to have the camera batteries die before I could get a good photo...

Wren's Halloween

Wren's first Halloween and she was a darling little giraffe. We thought a giraffe was appropriate since her favorite toy is her "sophie giraffe" and she loves to see the giraffes at the zoo. She went to visit Great Grandma and Grandpa Larson, but they weren't home. Then she saw Great Granny and Grandpa Neubauer, who put applesauce and baby bananas in her goody bag. She visited Grandma and Grandpa Schmidt and Grandma and Grandpa Neubauer, too. It was a busy evening for a little giraffe. She held up pretty well, although she rubbed off her facepaint and was a little cranky with all the in and out of the car.

Boo Bash

Here is wren with her big cousins (second i suppose) Ali and Brita, and new friend Lucy. She went to the Boo Bash on Grand Ave with her Dad on Saturday. It was the premier of her new giraffe costume, which she is excited to wear on Friday for trick-or-treats!

screamy baby. sleepy baby.

Wren had a rough night last night. She woke up around 11 screaming at the top of her lungs. This is completely unlike her. This is the baby who has slept through the night from night one and only wakes up to nurse. The loudest she gets at night is a little lip smacking when she is hungry. Or smacking of my boob if I am not being quick enough getting it out. We tried rocking her and pacing with her and singing to her, but she would not calm down. Just kept shrieking. I called my mom, who said to call the doctor. We called the nurse line and they said that you have to wait until a baby screams or cries nonstop for an hour and a half or more...which seems like a really long time to me! The nurse, who could hear Wren over the phone, said it sounded as though she was in pain. She thought it could be gas pain or teething. We gave her baby mylicon (gas relief) and teething gel, just to cover our bases. Something must have helped, because within 10 minutes she had calmed down, and within half an hour was back to sleep. Today she has been pretty cranky and sleepy, and I just got her down for a nap. I promptly took a picture, to document, and of course because I think she is so dang cute!

Presidential Debates

Last night Wren watched the debates at an Air America event. She was definitely a star, as more people watched her sometimes than the candidates. She yelled at the TV and at the crowd, and overall seemed thrilled to be a part of it. Although Wren's family and friends may be politically divided, she is so cute in her Obama onesie that, if you haven't already, you just might think about changing your vote! ;)
